Sherwin Iron Ltd
Sherwin Iron proposes to construct and operate an Iron Ore Mine within the Roper River region, located 120km east-south-east of Mataranka and 475km south-east of Darwin, NT.
In December 2012, the then Deputy Executive Director of the Northern Territory Environment Protection Agency (NT EPA) decided that the project requires assessment under the NT Environmental Assessment Act at the level of Environmental Impact Statement (EIS). The project is a controlled action under the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (EPBC Act) and is being assessed through an accredited assessment process. The controlling provisions are:
- Listed threatened species and communities (section 18 and 18A); and
- Listed migratory species (section 20 and 20A)
