Open for Comment - Draft Guideline for Pollution Avoidance on Commercial and Residential Building Sites

27 Mar 2015

The Northern Territory Environment Protection Authority (NT EPA) has today released draft Guidelines for Pollution Avoidance on Commercial and Residential Building Sites for public consultation.

NT EPA Chair Dr Bill Freeland said members of the public, local councils, government agencies, industry, professional associations and community groups are invited to provide input to the guidelines.

"The document has been drafted to inform the broad building industry of its obligations under Northern Territory legislation as well as providing measures that the industry can take to minimise its impact on the environment.

"The document addresses a need for educating the industry and in this it identifies the broad range of issues that have generated complaints to the NT EPA by the community from the building industry. The document puts forward a range of common sense cost effective measures that can be adopted by the industry.

Dr Freeland said that a series of industry presentations are planned for the near future as part of our open consultation process..

"To enhance the development of the guidelines, the NT EPA welcomes community and industry participation throughout the consultation," Dr Freeland said.

The draft Guidelines for Pollution Avoidance on Commercial and Residential Building Sites is available on the NT EPA website at www.ntepa.gov.au/envirocomment or by contacting the Office on (08) 8924 4218 during business hours.
