Open for Comment: Draft Environmental Impact Statement for Integrated Live Export Facility
31 Oct 2015
Wellard Rural Exports Pty Ltd (the Proponent) proposes to operate an Integrated Live Export Facility (the Project) at "Livingstone Valley" 2658 Stuart Highway Livingstone NT, located 35 km south-south-east of Darwin and 7 km west of Berry Springs. The life of the Project is expected to be greater than 40 years. The proposal is to establish and operate a modern pre-export quarantine (PEQ) facility in the Northern Territory. The facility will include the construction and operation of a short term PEQ holding facility and a short term feedlot with ancillary facilities and buildings (feed mill, sheds, weighbridge, office, amenities, ponds and irrigation area).
The Northern Territory Environment Protection Authority (NT EPA) decided on 7 May 2015 that the Project required assessment under the Environmental Assessment Act at the level of Environmental Impact Statement (EIS).
The draft EIS is now available for public review and comment for a period of six weeks, from 31 October 2015 until 12 December 2015.
