Media Release: NT EPA delivers terms for the link pipeline
02 Oct 2015
The Northern Territory Environment Protection Authority (NT EPA) has finalised the Terms of Reference for environmental assessment of the APA Group's proposal to construct and operate a gas pipeline from near Tennant Creek to Mt Isa. The intention is to build a high-pressure underground gas pipeline between the company's existing facilities on the Amadeus Gas Pipeline, approximately 40 km north-west of Tennant Creek, and the Carpentaria Gas Pipeline near Mount Isa. The pipeline would be 632 km in length; approximately 459 km would be in the Northern Territory.
The project is being assessed under the Environmental Assessment Act at the level of an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS)
The Chair of the NT EPA, Dr Bill Freeland, said that "The draft Terms of Reference were open for public comment from 4 to 18 September 2015. Twenty-one submissions were received. Seven of these were from the public. All comments were considered in developing the final terms of reference".
These terms have been provided to proponent APA Group to prepare the EIS and are available on the NT Link project page.
