Open for Comment: Draft Terms of Reference for the preparation of an Environmental Impact Statement Lee Point Master-Planned Urban Development

The Northern Territory Environment Protection Authority (NT EPA) has released the draft Terms of Reference (ToR) for the preparation of an Environmental Impact Statement for the Lee Point Master-Planned Urban Development for public review.
Defence Housing Australia, is proposing the 132.5ha urban development approximately 14 km north-north-east of Darwin on the northern edge of Muirhead and Lyons, and abutting Casuarina Coastal Reserve. The development will include urban residential uses at varying densities, rural residential allotments, land for community development and open spaces.
The NT EPA decided that the Lee Point Master-Planned Urban Development requires assessment under the Environmental Assessment Act at the level of an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS).
The draft Terms of Reference were developed by the NT EPA to assist Defence Housing Australia in preparing an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the Lee Point Master-Planned Urban Development.
The draft Terms of Reference are available for public comment for 14 calendar days commencing on 23 April 2016.
Comments are to be submitted on or before 6 May 2016.
The NT EPA will then finalise and issue the Terms of Reference to Defence Housing Australia for the Lee Point Master-Planned Urban Development for preparation of the EIS.
