Draft Environmental Impact Statement for Ammaroo Phosphate Project

27 Oct 2017

Verdant Minerals Ltd has released the draft Environmental Impact Statement for the Ammaroo Phosphate Project for six weeks for public review.

Verdant Minerals Limited (VRM) proposes to develop and operate the Ammaroo Phosphate Project within the western Georgina Basin, approximately 220km southeast of Tennant Creek and 270km northeast of Alice Springs in the Northern Territory.

The Project would involve open-cut mining of shallow phosphate deposits, beneficiation and production of phosphate rock concentrate and transport of phosphate rock concentrate via rail to the Port of Darwin.

On 12 June 2014, the NT EPA decided that the project required assessment under the NT Environmental Assessment Act at the level of an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS). EIS Terms of Reference were issued on December 2014.

The draft Environmental Impact Statement is now available for public comment. Comments are to be submitted on or before COB 8 December 2017
