Overview

The NT EPA invited the public, and industry to provide comment on the Environment Quality Report: Biodiversity of Howard Sand Plains Site of Conservation Significance.

The Howard sand plains house important biodiversity. The Report provides background on the significance and vulnerabilities to disturbance and threats to the biodiversity, and proposes possible long term solutions to ensure its preservation.

The report is an environment quality report under section 28 of the Northern Territory Environment Protection Authority Act 2012 (NT EPA Act) and will provide a basis for separate advice to the Minister for the Environment under section 25 of the NT EPA Act.

What happens next

The Environment Quality Report will be amended to take into consideration comments received during the comment period. The NT EPA will prepare Advice to accompany the Report.

The final version of the Report and the Advice will be provided to the Minister for the Environment as advice under the Northern Territory Environment Protection Authority Act 2012.
