Berrimah Freight Terminal Expansion

Overview

The proposed action is to expand the existing Berrimah Freight Terminal, located at East Arm (Sections 5412, 5411 and 6082, Hundred of Bagot) about 7 km east of Darwin. It includes:

  • clearing of intertidal mangrove and terrestrial vegetation
  • seawall construction and land reclamation
  • construction of infrastructure including buildings, roads, rail line, fencing, and installation of utilities and services (power, communications, water and sewage).

The proposed action is estimated to take 36 months to construct and would have a 50 year operational lifespan.

The NT EPA invited public comment on the referral for standard assessment submitted by Aurizon Operations Pty for the Berrimah Freight Terminal Expansion.
