Overview

AAPowerLink Australia Assets Pty Ltd plan to develop a large-scale solar generation and battery energy storage system precinct located in the Barkly Local Government Area. The proposal is located approximately 27 km west of the Stuart Highway and 121 km north of the Tennant Creek township and sits within NT Portion 5173.

Your feedback plays an important role and will be considered by the NT EPA in deciding whether the proposed action requires environmental impact assessment, and if so the required method of assessment.

Consultation helps the NT EPA and proponent to identify issues of concern and potential effects, as well as get feedback from stakeholders on proposal options or potential mitigation measures.

Statutory notice (21 May 2026)

The NT EPA invites public comment on the draft terms of reference for preparation of an environmental impact statement for the Muckaty Solar Precinct proposed by AAPowerLink Australia Assets Pty Ltd to develop a large-scale solar generation and battery energy storage system precinct located in the Barkly Local Government Area. The proposal is located approximately 27 km west of the Stuart Highway and 121 km north of the Tennant Creek township and sits within NT Portion 5173.

The document can be inspected and obtained below. Interested persons may make a submission by 12 June 2026. The NT EPA publishes this notice in accordance with regulation 102 of the Environment Protection Regulations 2020.
