The Northern Territory Environment Protection Authority (NT EPA) has welcomed a new member, local Territorian Jordanna (Jordy) Bowman.
Having worked for federal, state and territory governments, Aboriginal corporations and not-for-profit organisations, Ms Bowman brings a wealth of local knowledge and experience to the NT EPA Board.
Ms Bowman is also a member of the Cooperative Research Centre on Transformations in Mining Economies Impact Committee where she has a key role in providing advice about improving social and economic outcomes from mine closures and transition projects.
Chaired by Dr Paul Vogel AM, the NT EPA Board members include Janice van Reyk, Joe Woodward, Samantha Nunan, Dr Rod Lukatelich, Jordy Bowman and NT Planning Commission Chair Dr David Ritchie as an ex officio member.
The NT EPA Board is an independent authority established under the Northern Territory Environment Protection Authority Act 2012.
Quotes from Dr Paul Vogel AM:
“The experience and expertise of incoming board member Jordy Bowman ensures local knowledge and the values and expectations of Territorians in regional and remote parts of the Territory are reflected in the deliberations and decisions of the NT EPA.
“I particularly welcome Ms Bowman’s experience working with Aboriginal communities in regional NT.
“As an independent authority, the work of the NT EPA is critical to ensure the Northern Territory has a strong and transparent environmental assessment and regulation framework and is able to provide sound advice to Government.
“I look forward to working with Ms Bowman as the NT EPA continues to focus its efforts on improving environmental outcomes across the Northern Territory.”
