- On 15 October 2025, the Northern Territory Environment Protection Authority (NT EPA) became aware of an error in the way pollutant emissions have been calculated and reported for the Ichthys Liquified Natural Gas facility (ILNG) in Darwin.
- Ichthys LNG Pty Ltd is the operator of ILNG and is required to monitor, calculate and report pollutant emissions to the NT EPA in accordance with the conditions of Environment Protection Licence (EPL) 228-05.
- The NT EPA board has initiated an immediate investigation to identify any risks and determine if regulatory action is required. The NT EPA will be working closely with the Chief Health Officer.
- Officers from DLPE have requested that Ichthys LNG Pty Ltd provide further information related to the potential impact of the emissions.
- The NT EPA Board will meet with Ichthys next week to obtain further information.
