Purpose
The purpose of this protocol is to provide guidance to the media with respect to any media contact, interaction, communication or enquiries relating to the Northern Territory Environment Protection Authority (NT EPA). It applies to all forms of media.
The NT EPA undertakes functions associated with environmental impact assessments and the management of waste and pollution. The NT EPA endeavours to communicate and engage with the community and stakeholders. Information on the NT EPA, its functions and activities is available on this website.
The NT EPA chairperson is the official spokesperson for the NT EPA. The media manager of the Department of Environment, Parks and Water Security (DEPWS) will facilitate and co-ordinate all requests from journalists and members of the media. This also applies to any emergency situations.
All media inquiries are to be directed to the media manager.
NT EPA members will not respond directly to media enquiries. When members of the NT EPA are directly contacted by the media, they will refer the matter to the DEPWS media manager and the NT EPA chair. As such, a request for engagement with an NT EPA member should be made through the media manager to be considered by the NT EPA chairperson.
