The NT EPA completed its assessment of the GEMCO Excess Water Disposal Project proposed by Groote Eylandt Mining Company Pty Ltd. The Assessment report 110 including a draft environmental approval PDF (2.4 MB) was provided to the Minister for Lands, Planning and Environment on 21 August 2026, under sections 64 and 65 of the Environment Protection Act 2019.
The NT EPA’s assessment process concluded that the proposed action could be carried out in a manner that is environmentally acceptable, subject to the conditions in the draft environmental approval.
