Overview
Lithium Development (Grants) Northern Territory Pty Ltd proposes to:
- increase the depth of BP33 underground mine by 530 metres, from 320 metres below ground level (mbgl) to 850 mbgl
- extend the life of mine from 4 years to a period of up to 12 years
- increase the total mined ore from 2.09 Mt to 10.1 Mt
- maintain the Grants open-cut and processing facility as a centralised ore processing, waste handling and water storage hub (with the same extended life of mine to service the BP33 operation)
- develop a pipeline to transport slurry between Grants and BP33.
The Proposal area is located on Parcel Section 1 Hundred of Parsons, and Section 2746 Hundred of Hughes.
Why we are consulting
Your feedback plays an important role and will be considered by the NT EPA in deciding whether the proposed action requires environmental impact assessment, and if so the required method of assessment.
Consultation helps the NT EPA and proponent to identify issues of concern and potential effects, as well as get feedback from stakeholders on project options or potential mitigation measures.

Statutory notice (14 May 2026)
The NT EPA invites public comment on a referral for standard assessment submitted by Lithium Development (Grants) Northern Territory Pty Ltd to increase the depth of BP33 underground mine, extend the life of the mine, increase the total mined ore, maintain the Grants open-cut and processing facility as a centralised ore processing, waste handling and water storage hub (with the same extended life of mine to service the BP33 operation) and develop a pipeline to transport slurry between Grants and BP33..
The referral documents can be inspected and obtained below. Interested persons may make a submission by 12 June 2026. The NT EPA publishes this notice in accordance with regulation 52(1) of the Environment Protection Regulations 2020.
