The outcome of the assessment of the proposed expansion and upgrading at Rustler's Roost Gold Mine is that the proposal can proceed. However, the assessment has raised a number of matters that need to be further addressed before any approval to proceed can be granted. These matters must be addressed in a Mine Environmental Management Plan that should be submitted to the Department of Mines and Energy for approval by that department and the Department of Lands, Planning and Environment. The matters that require further consideration by the proponent are outlined in this report and relate to the use of kerosene, the tailings dam site, waste rock characterisation and management, and the water management system.
