Overview
APT Management Services Pty Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of APA Group, is proposing to construct, commission, operate and decommission a subsurface high-pressure gas pipeline and associated aboveground infrastructure, extending approximately 622 kilometres (km) from the Beetaloo Sub-basin gas fields to the Northern Territory (NT)/Queensland (QLD) border near Camooweal.
Key components of the proposed action include:
- a high-pressure buried gas transmission pipeline
- construction right-of-way up to 45 metres (m) wide
- installation of associated aboveground infrastructure (compressor stations, access tracks) and cathodic protection system
- supporting temporary construction infrastructure including accommodation camps, workshops, offices, pipe and material laydown areas, borrow pits, and water storage structures.
The proposed action would result in a construction disturbance footprint of approximately 4,703 hectares (ha) and an operational footprint of about 409 ha. Disturbed areas not required for operation (4,294 ha) would be progressively rehabilitated following commissioning. The pipeline is expected to operate for approximately 40 years.
