Overview
Primary Gold Pty Ltd is proposing to recommence open-cut gold mining across two mine sites, Rustlers Roost and Quest 29, located in the Mount Bundey region, approximately 100 km south east of Darwin, via the Arnhem Highway.

Statutory notice (25 February 2021)
The NT EPA published a statutory notice on 25 February 2021 inviting public comment on a proponent initiated EIS referral submitted by Primary Gold Pty Ltd for the Rustlers Roost and Quest 29 open cut mine redevelopment.
Interested persons were invited to make a submission by 9 April 2021. The NT EPA published the notice in accordance with regulation 52(1) of the Environment Protection Regulations 2020.

NT EPA notice
Statutory notice (2 May 2023)
The NT EPA completed its environmental impact assessment on 17 April 2023 and provided its assessment report and draft environmental approval to the Minister for Environment, Climate Change and Water Security, under sections 64 and 65 of the EP Act.
The assessment report and draft environmental approval may be inspected and obtained above.
The NT EPA publishes this notice in accordance with section 67 of the Environment Protection Act 2019.
Once the Minister for Environment, Climate Change and Water Security’s decision is made, it can be viewed on environmental approvals.
