Proponent: Department of Logistics and Infrastructure

Overview

The Department of Logistics and Infrastructure proposes to construct and operate a new residential subdivision development within the Wurrumiyanga Township, Bathurst Island, 80km north of Darwin. The proposal includes 70 residential dwellings; municipal infrastructure (roads and drainage), utilities infrastructure (water, sewer, power, communications) and realignment of existing water and power distribution services.

Statutory notice (14 August 2024)

The NT EPA published a statutory notice on 14 August 2024 to invite public comment on a referral for standard assessment, submitted by Department of Logistics and Infrastructure for the Wurrumiyanga Residential Subdivision.

Interested persons were invited to make a submission by 11 September 2024. The NT EPA published the notice in accordance with regulation 52(1) of the Environment Protection Regulations 2020.

In accordance with section 281(2) of the Environmental Protection Act 2019, appendix I was withheld from publication, as was some information within Appendix A (figure 3 redacted).

The NT EPA decided on 22 October 2024 that an environmental assessment is not required.
